Testimonials – music

Our mission at the GCYO is to provide a broad range of orchestral experiences to complement and enhance the ensemble offerings our musicians receive in schools. We believe the GCYO offers a unique experience for young musicians; an offering, not readily duplicated in schools.

Parents are delighted with the service the GCYO offers their children, not only musically but socially as well.

The following Testimonials are evidence that our Mission is working Рenjoy!

“The GCYO offers me more than I could ever get for my child at school. All of the children, conductors and parents at GCYO are committed to the value and benefits of music. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging. Music is just a part of their lives – everyone loves music at GCYO! The GCYO offers my child the opportunity to develop a set of life-skills that I value enormously. They learn about dedication, hard work and leadership. They learn to graciously accept success and value the lessons learned through failure. They learn about determination, courage and the value of team-work. They have opportunities at GCYO that I cannot find elsewhere. We love it here!”

“Playing in the orchestra and big band at GCYO was a huge part of my learning as a musician. Exposure to new music, new experiences, and enjoyment in the social aspects of performing music with others. Many, many fond memories”. Best, Steve Newcomb

“The Youth Orchestra gives my son a break from the fast pace he has to keep all week. Year 12 is tough, and the GCYO offers an outlet for his creative energy and a mental break from homework. It helps keep our family life manageable.”
